At the October 23rd House of Delegates meeting, members from the Council on Future Practice (CFP) presented an overview of declining trust as a driver of change to the profession. Delegates engaged in small group discussions on declining trust within the nutrition and dietetics profession and across the broader public landscape. You can view the CFP presentation here. Delegates emphasized the opportunity for the Academy to lead efforts that build public trust in science and evidence-based nutrition. The Board will use this feedback to explore innovative strategies in the new Strategic Plan that elevates the Academy’s voice and counter misinformation with credibility and connection.

These discussions underscored the shared goal of rebuilding trust by leading with empathy, integrity, and expertise. By utilizing Academy resources and updates to align messages, elevate credible voices, and demonstrate the real-world impact of RDNs and NDTRs, we collectively can strengthen our role as the trusted voice in food and nutrition.
In December we will be discussing Changing Science (PDF attached) and in February the discussion will involve Health Care Disruptions (PDF attached).

Please share your thoughts on these important issues so your voice can be heard!
