National Oatmeal Month

Registered Dietitian, Natalie Blum, will promote National Oatmeal Month by providing tips on how to select the best instant oatmeal packet and showcase a trendy & delicious way to eat your morning bowl of oatmeal.



  1. Oatmeal is a healthy breakfast choice for many reasons. Good source of whole grains, heart healthy soluble fiber, vitamins and minerals.

  2. When choosing instant oatmeal, keep an eye on the sugar content. Aim for under 10g per serving.

  3. Better yet – make your own! Try this overnight oatmeal recipe that you can customize to your liking. Not to mention you’ll wake up to an effortless already-prepared breakfast.


 

Overnight Oats


All you need:

  • 1⁄2 cup old fashioned oats

  • 1⁄2 cup low fat milk

  • 1⁄2 cup yogurt

  • 2 tsp honey

  • 1 tbsp chia seed

  • Toppings of your choosing (fresh fruit, mixed nuts, granola, dried fruit, spices)


All you do:

  1. Mix oats, milk, yogurt, honey, and chia seed in a small bowl

  2. Refrigerate overnight

  3. Top with desired toppings
