About the Event

In partnership with the Iowa Hunger Coalition, the Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Public Policy team will be hosting a free, one-hour virtual webinar “Advancing Nutrition Security Policy in Iowa: Making the Case for SNAP” on Friday, May 19th from 12-1 PM CST.

Non-Academy and community members are encouraged and welcome to attend at no cost.

During this webinar, hear from Luke Elzinga, Chair of the Iowa Hunger Coalition as we:

  • Grow our understanding and knowledge of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Double Up Food Bucks program.
  • Become informed on the current state of SNAP policy in Iowa and recent legislative proposals concerning the program.
  • Gain familiarity of the upcoming Farm Bill negotiations, how SNAP plays into them, and policy priorities for anti-hunger groups.
