Responsibilities:

Student Wellness at the University of Iowa is seeking a Dietitian/Senior Behavioral Health Consultant to develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition education programs and initiatives with a primary focus on health promotion and prevention of nutritional problems, both at the environmental and individual level. Responsibilities include individual nutrition counseling, training, consultation, academic supervision, and campus-community collaboration.


This position is eligible for a combination of on-campus and remote work. Remote work must be performed at a location within the state of Iowa and comply with the remote work program and related policies.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Human Nutrition or Dietetics or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Licensure as a Dietitian by the State of Iowa. Experience (typically 3-5 years) in the area of medical nutrition therapy and nutrition education, including experience with eating disorder intervention, Health at Every Size, and intuitive eating principles. Extensive knowledge of and skills to utilize various methods of delivering learning solutions for desired training outcomes (e.g. public speaking, group workshops, etc.) Extensive knowledge and application of communication techniques and relationship building skills; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and need through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Working knowledge and understanding of young adult growth and development. Knowledge of and the ability to use office support tools available on a desktop computer (e.g. Microsoft Office, email, presentation software, and electronic medical record.) Extensive ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals from varied cultures, race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.


Desirable Qualifications:

Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. Certified Eating Disorder Specialist or willingness to work toward Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. Professional experience working in Higher Education involving work with college-age students. Knowledge of assessment methods and activities; ability to assess research and instructional programs and review students’ learning outcomes to ensure achievement of objectives and strategies.
