Registered Dietitian - Contracted Position Cedar Rapids Area

The Academy for Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation is seeking a Registered Dietitian in the Cedar Rapids area who is interested in providing professional assistance in completing the USDA’s Healthier US Schools Challenge (HUSSC) application for 8 school buildings in the College Community School District.   This is a one year contracted position beginning January 2012 with a time commitment of approximately 225 hours paying $10,125.00. Contracted hours include participation in central Iowa trainings, assisting schools and school stakeholder groups in developing wellness teams, evaluating school wellness policies, facilitating modifications to wellness policies, and assisting school leaders in completing the HUSSC application.  Interested candidates must have a flexible schedule and be available 1-2 weekdays to attend on site meetings and visits throughout project implementation.  This opportunity is made possible through a partnership of the Iowa Department of Education and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation.    
Responsibilities of the RD Coach include:

• Assisting with the completion of the HUSSC application for 8 buildings in the College Community School District.
• Leading school wellness teams to work towards the common goal of enhancing the school’s wellness environment and completing the HUSSC application.
• Assisting with school lunch menu modification to meet HUSSC criteria with review of food production records, recipes, and ingredient labels.
• Recommending national, state and local resources to assist schools in meeting HUSSC nutrition education criteria. 
• Conducting one community outreach meeting/program presentation.
• Participating in one face to face training and periodic project webinars. 

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field;
• Registered Dietitian;
• Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics;
• Familiarity with USDA’s school lunch standards and the HUSSC award.
