A grandmother's battle with cancer impacts a career choice.  Fascinated by the functioning of our miraculous body, Stillman chose to work on preventing and treating disease.  Nutrition plays an essential role at all ages and stages especially during pregnancy and in early child development thus, Stillman dedicated nearly 15 years providing services and writing grants for funds directed toward this vulnerable population.
Stillman's passion for prevention of chronic disease lead to expanding to many other projects for other populations among them initiating a successful pedometer based fitness challenge to residents in nine counties in northwest Iowa.  Furthermore, exceptional work on the Clay County Community Health Needs Assessment and Improvement Plan lead to the Governor's Volunteer Award. In addition, Stillman's leadership abilities were recognized in the Who's Who of Professional Management.

I am honored to be nominated for IDA president, to assist in amplifying the national ADA goals of providing tools needed to communicate and connect with audiences on hot topics.  ADA's mission of empowering you as the indispensable resource on food and nutrition information will connect you to fabulous colorful, entertaining resources and messages that talk to the heart.  I am excited to share useful tools that will enhance your practice.

Each one of you possesses superb skills in different areas.  I challenge you to use your skills to connect with others in this organization and in your community. Connectivity in the community assists in communicating clarity to consumers. Collaborating with others such as healthcare professionals, teachers or those at fitness centers magnifies the impact of a consistent correct message.  Building local coalitions assists in disseminating correct information and sharing it throughout the community creates a connected healthier community.

Communicating with community partners in various sectors assists in achieving education reform, public policy improvements, reimbursement for services, and strengthens evidence-based practice. Communication, collaboration and compensation convey value to an organization and the community.  Embrace the challenges of contributing to improve the health of our communities and our world.  The world is hungry for you expertise.
