Patient Services Manager

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA has an opening for a Patient Services Manager.

The manager provides daily accountability in the operation of his or her assigned
areas.  The manager actively participates in departmental meetings, follows
departmental and hospital guidelines, and keeps current and abreast of the Food
Service industry.  May have some clinical responsibilities.

The Manager will achieve and maintain an upward trend for overall patient
satisfaction on Press Ganey scores by actively coaching staff
(including production staff-at daily production meetings and spot-checks
throughout the day) on upcoming menus, specific needs, food quality
and service expectations.

The Manager will initiate and document employee counseling, coaching and disciplinary
actions in a thorough, accurate and timely manner according to department
and hospital and policies & procedures.

College is desirable. Must attend Mercy Medical Center nutrition course
within six months of hire.  Licensed, registered dietitian strongly preferred.
It is anticipated that a management candidate for a position in this
institution would have 2-5 years of management experience in a similar
type position.

Licensure: Active ServSafe certification from the National Restaurant Association
Education Foundation within six months of hire.  Prefer dietitian with ADA registration and licensed in the State of Iowa.

Contract Consultant RD

Health Technologies seeks a dynamic consultant to provide routine consultation to a LTC facility in Dubuque IA and Clinto IA:
Typical Services during consultations include:
1.      Routine initial and readmission nutritional assessments with development of a nutrition care plan in conjunction with the Interdisciplinary team.
2.      Monthly monitoring of at risk residents including those with weight loss (significant and insidious), pressure ulcers, tube feedings, new order for renal dialysis, thickened liquids or new entry into hospice care.
3.      Ongoing monitoring of nutritional care program such as monitoring use of supplements, snacks and recommendations to improve nutritional care programs.
4.      Kitchen inspection for oversight of adherence to sanitation rules and regulations at the local, state and federal level.
5.      Meal Service monitoring and Dining room rounds to insure quality meal service programs and adherence to all state and federal regulations.
6.      Menu review and assistance with revisions as necessary to meet preferences of residents.
7.      In-service education on at least a quarterly basis.
8.      Additional services as requested such as support in recommendations to improve the food service system, budget controls, ordering practices or development of policies and procedures.
9.      Provide a written report with recommendations at the end of each scheduled consultation.
10.     Provide services at a time mutually agreeable to the Consultant and Facility but during normal business hours to promote communication with the management team.

Prefer 2 years LTC experience, State license and CDR required.

Education Program Consultant (SMP)

This Education Program Consultant position works with the USDA Child Nutrition Programs, specifically National School Lunch Program (NSLP), administered by the Bureau. The Consultant is responsible for conducting program evaluations and/or on-site validation of the USDA School Meal Programs for certification in the Nutrition Standards effective July 1, 2012 for compliance with all Federal and State regulations. This includes but is not limited to: Scheduling reviews, completion of required review forms, exit conference, follow-up letter, and monitoring for compliance with required corrective action; General consultative and technical assistance services during the course of the review; Nutrient analysis of menus as required for School Meal Programs by the USDA; Actively assists with teaching and staff development for Schools in relation to the Nutriton Standards Final Rule in a variety of ways as assigned, including, but not limited to; Developing and presenting continuing education in a variety of settings from ICN workshops, to small group training, to large group training in a statewide short course setting; Writing articles for newsletters and/or items for posting on the web; Assisting with preparation of memos related to various aspects of menu planning; Assisting with development and updating of handbooks for program participants; Provides technical assistance to participants in the USDA School Meal Programs at times other than the formal review as requested and the schedule allows. This assistance is provided in a variety of ways from on-site visits, to phone conversations, e-mails, referral, or by providing reference material

This position requires travel Tuesday through Thursday approximately 75% of the year possibly to all areas of the state.  The candidate must be willing to undergo periodic nights and occasional workweeks away from the home location.  The Position may be based out of Grimes Building in Des Moines or there is the possibility of regionally based working out of the successful candidate’s home. This will be determined by the Department of Education.  There may be some weekend and overnight travel to in-state and out-of-state meetings/conferences.  Federal resources fund this position.

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to read, comprehend, digest, and apply Federal and State regulations; Ability to interpret Federal and State regulations to program participants, dealing with questions submitted via phone, email, in writing, etc.; Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, organize work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision; Strong interpersonal skills with ability to provide guidance and direction to others, foster a team-based environment; produce work with few errors, math skills for calculating claims;   Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly with program participants and other program staff regarding federal and state requirements, including ability to develop guidance for interpretation of regulations, newsletters, materials for posting on the web, etc.; Ability and willingness to travel frequently as needed to conduct reviews, participate in required USDA meetings, conduct workshops, provide technical assistance, etc. as required and be away from home overnight as needed for the job.

Registered Dietitian

Immanuel Pathways is a non-profit organization offering a unique service to enable people with chronic care needs to be served in their homes and communities whenever possible.

Purpose of the Position: Screens and assesses participant nutritional status for Immanuel Pathways.  Uses pertinent data to plan and implement appropriate nutrition interventions and communicates the information to the Interdisciplinary Team to ensure the nutritional needs of the participants are met.  Performs nutritional assessment and provides nutritional education for Immanuel Pathways participants requiring interventions.  Coordinates serving of meals; monitors/coordinates kitchen facilities to ensure standards are met.  Coordinates with contracted meal services to ensure meals meet the needs of the Immanuel Pathways participants.  Provides education to other health care professionals as appropriate.

Education-
•       Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college with major studies in food and nutrition or dietetics required.
•       Be legally authorized, currently licensed, registered or certified to practice in the State of Iowa.

Experience-
•       One (1) year of experience working with a frail or elderly population required.
•       Two (2) years of experience in the dietetics and/or nutrition
•       Possess position specific competencies for the Registered Dietitian prior to assuming participant care.
•       One (1) year of management experience, preferably in a geriatric care setting required.

Other Requirements-
•       Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
•       Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation.

KSA- Knowledge Skills and Abilities-
•       Knowledge of physical, mental and social needs of frail older adults.
•       Skilled in assessment of nutritional needs of frail older adults.
